 TEXAS AREA HEALTH EDUCATION CENTERS

The Texas AHEC Network (TxAN)
 (SEE MAP)

Texas AHEC East (The University of Texas Medical Branch)
West Texas AHEC (Texas Tech Health Sciences Center) and
South Texas AHEC (The University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio)

with 18 operational regional Centers serving 254 Texas counties The TxAN network shares a common vision:  to increase opportunities for health and decrease barriers to effective and quality healthcare in Texas communities

The strength of the network is reflected in community-based regional responsiveness to health and healthcare needs. At the same time, this very community-based focus allows the network to respond to statewide initiatives quickly and efficiently.

The resources of the network are leveraged to improve effectiveness through sharing of best practices, problem-solving, maximizing linkages, and reducing duplication and competition.

The programmatic workgroups (Health Careers Promotion, Community-based Education, Practice Entry and Support, and Health Literacy) convene AHEC staff across the state to foster the accomplishment of the National AHEC mission.
